Domestic airlines to begin round the clock flight services

Chairman, Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), Captain Nogie Meggison has assured the flying public that the domestic airlines are ready to operate round-the-clock without any additional risk.
Speaking to reporters in Lagos recently, Meggison said there is no difference or any additional risk in flying at night in the country’s airspace, but that lighting on the tarmac remained the major airport infrastructure to ensure the smooth operation at night.

Minister of Aviation, has announced, among other reform decisions that from May 2015, domestic airlines would begin to operate 24-hour flight services round the clock.

“The airlines are spending more time on ground than in the air where they belong,” the minister said.

Chidoka believes that unhindered operation of the local airlines would form the catalyst for the aviation sector to grow at a rapid pace and contribute more to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) than the current ridiculous 0.4 percent.
