The world's largest travel site, tripadvisor has announced eight Lagos hotels as winners of 2015 Travelers' Choice awards. They are: Four Point By Sheraton Lagos, the Wheatbaker, Southern Sun, the Moorhouse Ikoyi Lagos, the Federal Palace, Victoria Crown Plaza, Citilodge Hotel and Planet One Hotel and Wellness.

According to statement on tripadvisor's website, award winners were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for hotels, restaurants and attractions in destinations worldwide, gathered over a 12-month period.

Chief marketing officer for tripadvisor, Barbara Messing, said " tripadvisor has surfaced value hotel options that are bookable on the site, along with fantastic places to eat and play."

Trip Advisor also honors 469 top travel destinations worldwide including lists for Africa, Asia, Australia, Canada, Caribbean, Central America, Europe, China, Middle East, Russia, South America, the South Pacific, the U.K., and the U.S., based on the millions of valuable reviews and opinions from tripadvisor travelers.

The new Travelers' Choice number one destination in the world is Marrakech, Morocco.

Cape Town, South Africa emerged as number 9 among the list of 25 top destinations in the world.
