FG Owes Ondo N7 Billion On Federal Roads - Mimiko

Akure — Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has said that the Federal Government was yet to refund to the state about N7billion expended on the repair and reconstruction of some federal roads in the state.

Mimiko disclosed the figure while answering questions during an interactive programme. "The Governor Speaks" bothering on the deplorable state of Akure-Ado-Ekiti Road that linked the state capitals of Ondo and Ekiti.

The governor said once the state is able to get the refund of the money something would be done not only on this particular road but also on other roads in the state.

Mimiko, who noted that progress is being made on how to get the refund, added that despite the situation, the government would do something to ammeliorate the situation of the important road particularly bad portions.

The governor said the administration expended billions of naira on may federal roads in the state when many of them became impassable while commuters spend hours in traffic.

He said the government had mobilised contractors handling the Akure-Obaile and Ondo township roads to site. Mimiko expressed optimism that works on the two roads would be completed within the next three months.

He appealed to commuters plying those roads under construction to be patient assuring that the problems would soon be over.
