Ghanaian Turns Bamboo Into Something Special and Starts an International Business

In Ghana farmers consider bamboo a nuisance they would normally clear from their land. Not Kwabena Danso he thought bamboo was worth more than that, so he went to work. Danso decided to start Boomers international,  a company that makes bamboo bike frames. Once made, the frames are shipped to Germany, the Netherlands, Australia and elsewhere. There is not a lot of demand for the products within Ghana and he has sold a few frames in the country.

The bamboo is prepared by local men who are involved in sanding, gluing and binding his bamboo frames. The company churns out about 50 of the frames per month, using locally produced
