Man beats up worker over train tickets

A man, Suleiman Waheed, has been arraigned by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly assaulting a Nigerian Railway Corporation worker, hitting him with fist blows.

The said incident took place on September 12 at the Railway Terminus, Iddo, Lagos.

The complainant, Principal Station Master, Adedoyin Idowu, was reportedly checking tickets at the terminus gate when Suleiman Waheed and his wife, Doyin, allegedly presented expired tickets.

Idowu reportedly instructed them to obtain a valid ticket, but they allegedly refused and attacked the PSM with blows.

In the process, the complainant allegedly sustained serious injury on his mouth and lost a wristwatch worth N2,500. Waheed was arraigned before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court on one count of assault.

His charge read, “That you, Suleiman Waheed, on September 12, 2015, at about 6.15pm at Iddo Terminus Railway Compound, in the Lagos State Magisterial district, did unlawfully assault one Adedoyin Idowu, a railway worker, which caused him bodily harm and thereby committed an offence punishable and contrary under Section 171 of criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.”
