The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) is considering converting its trailer parks across the country into a hub for commercial activities in addition to parking of trailers.
This was disclosed by the Managing Director of FERMA, Engr. Gabriel Amuchi, on Tuesday, June 16, during inspection of two culvert and bridge washout in Katsina state.
He explained that already FERMA has acquired the Mararaba-Jos trailer park and civil works have been done, adding that it is hoped that the private sector can partner with it through the provision of facilities like filling stations, shops, recreation areas and workshops.
Amuchi said the embankments on the Tashan Bala two-span bridge along Katsina-Kano road, built by FERMA a year ago to replace broken culverts hitherto existing there, was caused by storm water which is threatening the bridge hence the decision to visit the site.
