Passengers of a Turkish Airlines' flight who forced their way into the tarmac and barricaded the aircraft at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) Abuja over their missing luggage have collected the luggage, it was learnt yesterday.

The passengers had invaded the tarmac last weekend after the Turkish aircraft failed to bring their luggage.

The tarmac invasion, which was viewed as a security breach, led to the suspension of the Airport Manager, Terminal Manager and Head of Airport Security by the Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika.

The minister said the explanation by the airport officials that the passengers overpowered the security team was not tenable.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the aviation regulatory agency, is probing the matter with a view to identifying the circumstances surrounding the issue.

At the time of filing this report, it was learnt that a meeting of the NCAA management with the airline officials was ongoing in Abuja.

Spokesman of the NCAA, Mr. Sam Adurogboye, said a formal position would be taken on the matter during the meeting. He also confirmed that the passengers have been collecting their luggage.

Adurogboye frowned at the decision of the passengers to invade the tarmac, which is a restricted area, saying though passengers have their rights guaranteed under the Bill of Rights, there are restrictions to that rights.
